Macdonald & Company are launching the 3rd edition of their annual Salary, Rewards and Benefits Survey and would like your assistance to ensure that the findings are a fair representation of the state of the market. The survey is a confidential set of on-line questions which probe such information as the sex, race, location, education, salary, benefits and company size of respondents from the property industry.

The findings of this survey assist in providing career advice and salary benchmarking to property professionals and employers in South Africa. Clearly, the greater the response received, the more accurate the findings will be. To take part in this survey, and stand a chance of winning one of 3 weekends away for two, click here.

Workplace Strategies Around the World

The IFMA Foundation will be launching a book about “Workplace Strategies Around the World” at World Workplace in October in Phoenix.  This book provides practical tools to help Facility Managers from around the globe, in large, mid-size and small organizations lead change in the workplace, both strategically and tactically.

The book examines forces driving change in the office and prepares Facility Managers for the evolving nature of work and the workplace of the future.  Sustainability is a “way of life” for most companies.  With the emphasis on the triple bottom line -- people, planet and profit -- becoming more popular, this topic is woven throughout the book and addressed in case studies from around the world.

If you are interested in submitting a case study for potential inclusion in the book or know someone who is, please complete the attached template and submit to Kim who will forward it to IFMA.

We are reaching to you, facility managers from around the world, to get a truly international perspective on sustainable facility rating systems as we update the IFMA Foundation's "Sustainability How-to Guide: Green Building Rating Systems." Your input will enable us to detail how the systems differ, cost variances, information about how certifications have been obtained and operational costs have been reduced.

The information requested should be focused on real experiences with green building rating systems and obtaining certifications. Through this survey we hope to answer many of the questions that facility managers have voiced to us and incorporate them in this publication. The guide will also provide case studies that will highlight selected green rating systems.

Please see the following link for the survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TF6Q3XV

The survey closes at the end of June.

The authors and the IFMA Foundation thank you in advance for your time and participation in this exciting initiative.

The Occupiers Journal, is a global company in the age of the Internet and social media and was featured in a February 29 article about the power of technology to enable collaboration among people who are literally thousands of miles apart ("So near and yet so far").  The focus of the business is to bring together occupiers of real estate and the end-users of facilities and support services to exchange ideas.  This will enable them to change their vision and strategy to become more focused, effective and efficient.  The first product of this membership based organization is the FM-GRID program that is directed at making Facilities and Workplace Managers more effective, improve Senior Management buy-in and improve functional and business unit relationships.  The Occupiers Journal are very pleased to announce that the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has agreed to support the global study. The RICS has also announced that it is to grow its South African presence.

In order to make the study even more relevant and improve the value the open time for people to contribute has been extended to the end of July 2012.  The study is being run by our research director Jim Ware.  I would like to encourage all the SAFMA  members to take the time to fill in the form so that it raises our region’s profile in the survey.

The Occupiers Journal has recruited Regional Partners in order to make the program more locally relevant and improve the communications.  The Southern African Regional Partner is Rudd van Deventer and can be contacted through LinkedIn.  If you have not yet linked up on LinkedIn please take the time and join the Southern Africa OJ Group.
