Why Become a Member of The South African Facilities Management Association

SAFMA believes that interaction between members and sharing expertise is a powerful tool for the good of the industry. The benefits of sharing expertise, arranging contacts for members when traveling abroad and being able to host international visitors are significant.

SAFMA also keeps you up-to-date on Facilities Management issues through the monthly Facilities Management News and email newsletters. Surveys and Research findings are communicated in special bulletins.

Relations, Affiliations and Networking

There is a concerted effort to create, establish and maintain working relationships with government at all levels.

National relationships are with:

  • PROCSA (Property Council of South Africa)
  • SAPOA (South African Property Owners Association)
  • NCCA (National Contract Cleaners Association)

International affiliations are being investigated with:

  • IFMA (International Facility Management Association)
  • BIFM (British Institute of Facilities Management)
  • FMA (Facility Management Association Australia)
  • Global FM (Global Facility Management Association)

These associations arrange their own conferences and exhibitions.

Publications and News

Local information about regional chapter activities and the activities of National Council are published periodically via e-mail newsletters and special bulletins. Members also receive a regular FM magazine.

Surveys and Research

The importance of facility related benchmarks to facilities managers in their on-going pursuit of industry best practices has been recognised by SAFMA and are periodically published through special bulletins.

Advisory Service

SAFMA's administration section looks forward to serving members with advice on facilities-related matters. If the administration section is unable to assist, members will be referred to specialists in the field who are willing to help.

Membership Categories

Individual Member: Any individual who, in the sole opinion of the National Council, is involved in the Facility Management Industry. Cost for individual membership is R500.00. Apply for Individual Membership

Corporate Member: Different levels of corporate membership allow for multiple membership at a discounted price. Apply for Corporate Membership

Student Member: For any individual studying facilities management. Apply for Student Membership.
